About Billy McDaniel
Since as far back as I can remember, I have spent my days channeling all of my energy on creative projects. To try and define who I am without listing hobbies would be futile. Even before I began playing the guitar, long before computers, way back before I had any real skills, I would spend my days creating board games, drawing cartoon characters, building elaborate tree-houses, writing short stories, or find myself disassembling electronic toys to figure out how they worked.
I wasn't any smarter than any of my peers, and certainly spent a lot of extra time figuring things out. I always remembered the folk-tale of the tortoise and the hare. The moral of the story was that persistence wins the race. You don't have to be the fastest, or the smartest, you just have to stay on course. So with that lesson in mind, I have always gone about life with an attitude that I could do anything I wanted to do, so long as I was willing to go through the motions of learning, practicing, and honing my skills.
In the past couple of decades, I've accumulated a wealth of experience in the arts. I've found it difficult to define exactly what I do in a single breath. I guess to sum it up in as few words as possible, I could just say that I'm a Multimedia Artist. But what exactly is that?
In a nutshell, multimedia is any art that can be produced with a computer. This covers everything from text, graphics, video, animation and sound. Although I don't claim to have a complete understanding of everything multimedia, I do possess enough skills in each of the various areas to merit the title.
So these are some of the things that define 'who I am'. Overall, I could just say that I'm a geek, and I'd be satisfied to say just that. I live for creativity and experience, and wouldn't trade this life for all the money in the world.
